Restorative Coaching and Reiki FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is restorative coaching?
Restorative coaching is an approach that supports both progress and capacity. It blends traditional career and life coaching with restorative practices that help reduce stress, restore balance, and rebuild the internal energy needed to move forward with intention.

Rather than focusing only on goals, this program is a holistic program to help you regain clarity, strengthen decision making, and in balance. The result is feeling in alignment with your life and career and an action plan that feels deliberate and sustainable.

How is restorative coaching different from traditional coaching?

Traditional coaching often only focuses on goals, strategy, and accountability. Restorative coaching includes those elements but also addresses stress, burnout, and internal misalignment that can quietly undermine progress. By restoring balance alongside strategic action, change becomes more sustainable and less exhausting.

Where does Reiki fit into restorative coaching?

Reiki energy healing is incorporated at the end of each coaching session through a guided meditation and energy healing practice. This portion of the session supports relaxation and emotional and physical balance, helping clients integrate insights and leave feeling grounded and clear. Reiki is not a substitute for coaching. It is a complementary element of the restorative process.

Do I need to believe in or understand Reiki for this to work?

No, not at all. Many clients come to restorative coaching focused on career decisions or life transitions and have little or no prior experience with energy work. Reiki is gentle and designed to support progress regardless of prior beliefs. I guide clients through each session and no prior knowledge of Reiki or traditional coaching is required. The only expectation is to embrace the possibility of empowering what is possible.

Is Reiki a religion?

No. Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. Reiki is not a religion and does not require any spiritual belief system. It is a holistic wellness practice and healing. Reiki does not involve worship, doctrine, or belief requirements, and clients of all backgrounds and belief systems participate comfortably.

Is restorative coaching therapy or medical treatment?

No. I am not a physician or a mental health therapist. Restorative coaching is not therapy, counseling, or medical treatment. It is a forward-focused coaching process designed to support clarity, decision making, empowerment, and momentum. If clients have a specific health or mental heath need, they should contact their primary physician. No reiki session should replace traditional medical needs. Rather, Reiki is offered as a complementary wellness practice, not a treatment or diagnosis.

Who is restorative coaching for?

Many clients arrive here at a moment when responsibility is high, expectations are heavy, and forward motion feels forced rather than aligned. Some are acutely aware that toxic dynamics, unspoken pressure, or misaligned environments are draining their energy. Others simply know something has shifted. What once fit no longer does, and pushing through is no longer an option.

This may show up as a career or leadership transition, a desire to exit an unhealthy work environment, or the need to create a clear, immediate life plan that bridges where you are today with where you want to be. For others, it is about regaining clarity, confidence, and decision making when the next step feels important but unclear.

What does the coaching process look like?

The program follows a structured methodology through awareness, alignment, and activation. Each session combines coaching conversation with reflective and restorative actions, closing with Reiki and a guided meditation to support balance, clarity, integration, and progression.

How do I know if restorative coaching is right for me?

If pushing harder is no longer working and you want an approach that supports both direction and balance, restorative coaching may be a strong fit. Contact Jan for an introductory call to learn more.
